James Donald Randall, age 75, of Houston, Texas, passed away on the 30th of August 2012. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed dearly. Born in Santiago, Chile to Harold and Irene Randall, he attended New Mexico Military Institute, and graduated from Georgetown University in 1958, and from Yale Law School in 1962. He was a partner in Baker Botts, L.L.P., until his retirement in 1996.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Mary Lynn Randall; three sons, James D. Randall, Jr., Philip D. Randall, and Stephen E. Randall; two stepchildren, Cathy Clark Rascoe (spouse, Jay Rascoe), and William Clark (spouse, Christina); two granddaughters, Megan S. Randall and Liv B. Clark, and a grandson, Christian B. Clark. He also leaves his brother, Harold Randall of Dallas, and his sister, Joan Lambert of Tuscan, California.
Jim had many passions in his life, chief among them were exercising, cooking, and his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid runner, frequenting Memorial Park and completing numerous marathons. He cycled all over Houston and Katy long before it was commonplace. He was also an accomplished marksman and hunter, dividing his time between the Houston Gun Club and his hunting lease in West Texas. Jim was also one of the founding members at The Houstonian Club, where he was a daily attendee.
His zeal for cooking blossomed after his retirement when he worked for Monica Pope in the kitchen of her Boulevard Bistro restaurant. He cooked almost daily and frequently entertained family with great meals.
Jim was especially fond of his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending untold hours with them. He truly doted over them, whether it was making them breakfast after a routine sleep over or celebrating a milestone of their lives.

JAMES ‘JIM’ D. RANDALL, Jr
I have spent most my 20-year career collaborating with and assembling strong multi-disciplinary teams to undertake and successfully accomplish strategic IT goals and objectives, frequently in the form of larger, integrated projects and programs that markedly change the business status quo of the organization. I am very comfortable managing integrated project teams across the IT value chain and developing the important relationships between IT departments.
My experiences as an IT leader, an architect contributor, and management consultant, make me particularly adept at successfully collaborating with people from all backgrounds and nationalities, at all levels within organizations and with external partners, to deliver organizational objectives and services with professionalism and integrity. As mentioned before, I am especially interested in work at the technology horizon; efforts that are perceived as “disruptive” and perhaps, even “riskier” for an organization to accomplish, but with the justifying corresponding high upside delivered through innovative transformation of business processes and systems.
