Former Port Arthur councilman charged with criminal mischief in tire-slashing incident

JUN 29, 2011 | REPUBLISHED BY LIT: APR 25, 2022

A former Port Arthur councilman was arrested Wednesday in connection with a tire-slashing incident at Central Mall.

Martin Flood, 50, was charged with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor offense. He posted his $250 bond immediately, according to a jail dispatcher.

The charges stem from a June 23 incident where someone broke the windshield and slashed the tires of a woman’s 2003 Land Rover at Central Mall. Maj. Raymond Clark said witnesses placed Flood at the scene.

Flood and the 40-year-old woman were acquaintances, according to police.

Flood had formerly served on the Port Arthur City Council but lost his reelection bid in May.
