LIT is not here to delay payment for those persons who deserve to be compensated, as this case clearly shows. However, just as CPA’s have to be qualified and licensed, so do lawyers, and if they fail to comply with the simple registration and minuscule fee requirements, then they are still violating Texas laws.
Section 392.101 of the Texas Finance Code prohibits a third-party debt collector from engaging in debt collection in Texas unless the third-party debt collector has obtained a surety bond and filed a copy of the bond with the Office of the Secretary of State.
p.s. It appears the address for serving Picard is well out of date. The lack of due diligence all around is distressing, if you are a client.
